Making a purchase

How to order a product

  • If you have a product you wish to purchase on our website, simply follow these steps to purchase it online:
    1. Enter the page of the product you wish to purchase
    2. Click “Add to Cart”
    3. Click “Shopping Cart” on the column to the left to view the products in the shopping cart
    4. To remove a product, check the box in the “Remove” column and click “Update”
    5. When you are ready to check out, click the "Checkout" button
    6. Create a user account or use an existing account to check out

Payment methods accepted

  • We accept VISA, MasterCard and PayPal. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash or cheques.
  • The checkout procedure is authorized by Paypal - one of the most reliable account settlement companies in the US. This provides security to transactions.

Currency

  • All prices are listed in US dollars and all payments should be settled in US dollars.

Shipping

  • The cost of shipping will be as follows:
    1. Express International USD$ 17.70
    2. Standard International USD$ 8.80
  • Time for package to arrive:
    1. For standard international shipping, your shipment will usually reach you from 6 to 13 days from Kyoto. For express international shipping, your shipment will usually reach you from 2 to 4 days from Kyoto. In the rare case that the customs detains the shipment, it may take another week for the goods to arrive.

Customs duty

  • Kouroen is not charged any custom duties by the Japanese government or government of other countries.
  • The customer may have to pay custom duty if his country imposes one on tea leaves.

Returns

  • We will not be responsible for failures of delivery due to the customer’s own mistake in writing the shipping address. Therefore, we kindly ask for your extra care when writing your address in our checkout system.
  • If there are initial product failures, damage due to accidents during delivery, or mistakes which we made in delivering the product, you may send the product back to us. We will gladly offer an item in exchange at our expense or offer a refund, whichever you may prefer. We will also refund the delivery charges (if any) which you incurred in sending the product back to us.
  • However, if the customer wants to exchange or return the product by reason of personal preferences, all delivery charges for returning the product will be borne by the customer. Such charges and commissions are not refundable.
  • If you want to return or exchange a product, please contact us by email within 1 week after the product has arrived. In principle, returns and exchanges will only be accepted for “unopened products”. We may still accept exchanges for products that have been opened or unsealed depending on our own judgment. We can however never accept returns and exchanges for opened products that have been damaged or defiled due to the customer’s own fault. We ask for your understanding in advance.

Changes and cancellation of order

  • No change or cancellation of order will be accepted after the order has been shipped. Changes and cancellations may be made after ordering but before the order is shipped. If you wish to change or cancel your order, please contact us by email as soon as possible.
